FEEDING IN QUIET
Zeph.3:13

by Pastor Jack Shanks

Full Page Version

The remnant of Israel----shall feed and lie down, and none shall make them afraid.

What a blessing to see the people of God feeding on the WORD in quietness and without fear. I'm speaking about week after week they come and hear and digest and love and support the gospel of our blessed Savior. These sheep of God do care for their families and jobs, which require many hours of labor. But here they are, hungry to hear, and a little fear has entered. Believers must come to be filled with the wisdom of God again, so the fears can be put away.

Thank Almighty God for a place away from the awful din of the world. How grateful we are for those few hours per week when the remnant of lsrael can come and behold the beauties of Christ from the Scriptures and hear Him say "Eat O friends; drink, yea, drink abundantly, O beloved" (Song 5:1). There is no other place where we can come feed, and not be afraid.

I will be going in a few hours to the Wednesday worship. I already can see those who are so eager to meet, who need the assurance of Christ our Redeemer. May it always be as anticipated: simple, worshipful, filling, restful and encouraging to us all.

The people of God ought to be able feed in quiet, and not be afraid.
