Plenteous Redemption
by Pastor David Pledger
"Let Israel hope in the LORD: for with the LORD there is mercy, and with Him is plenteous redemption" Psalms 103:7
The word "plenteous" literally means to multiply or enlarge, it reminds us of the greatness of His redemption. The greatness of his redemption may be seen in considering these five truths:
1. The Glory of the Redeemer. Who is the Redeemer? He is the Lord. (Isaiah 44:6) "Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God."
2. The Price of Redemption. What is the price for the redemption of God's elect? The blood of the Son of God. (1 Peter 1:18) "Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,"
3. The Number of the Redeemed. All of God's elect. (Rev. 7:9) "After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb."
4. The Depths from which they were redeemed. Oh, the misery, the wrath of God which shall be poured out upon His enemies, but His wrath shall not fall upon the Redeemed. (1 Thess. 5:9-10) "For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us "
5. The Glory to which the Redeemed are raised. To enjoy God forever!
