THE TERM 'PERSEVERANCE OF THE SAINTS'
CAN BE DESCRIBED SIMPLY AS:

ONCE SAVED - ALWAYS SAVED

CAN ONE LOSE THEIR SALVATION ?

John 5:24

'He that HEARETH My voice, and BELIEVETH on Him that sent Me, HATH everlasting life.'This states that;

1. He has it (HATH).
2. It lasts forever (EVERLASTING).

John 6:39

'And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I SHALL LOSE NONE of all that he HAS GIVEN ME, but raise it up the last day.'

1. He SHALL LOSE NONE.

John 10:28-29

'I give them ETERNAL LIFE, and they will NEVER PERISH; NO ONE CAN SNATCH THEM OUT OF MY HAND.'

1. ETERNAL LIFE.
2. NEVER PERISH.
3. NO ONE CAN SNATCH THEM.

Eph. 1:13-14

'Having also believed YOU WERE SEALED in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance.'

1. SEALED

Romans 8:38-39

'For I am persuaded, that NEITHER DEATH, NOR LIFE, NOR ANGELS, NOR PRINCIPALITIES, NOR POWERS, NOR THINGS PRESENT, NOR THINGS TO COME, NOR HEIGHT, NOR DEPTH, NOR ANY OTHER CREATURE, shall be able TO SEPARATE us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

1. If NOTHING can separate us from the love of God, then how can a Believer lose his salvation ?

Gal. 3:13

"Christ HATH REDEEMED US from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us."

1. If Christ really bore our eternal wrath (HELL) for us and was a REAL SUBSTITUTE FOR 'ALL' THE SINS OF HIS PEOPLE, PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE SINS, then those people cannot go to Hell and be punished for their sins. Christ was punished for them. It would be DOUBLE JEOPARDY if both CHRIST AND MAN had to pay for the same sins.

John 3:36

'He that believes on the son HAS eternal life.

1. HAS ETERNAL LIFE.

Charles Spurgeon once said; 'He that does good works IN ORDER to be saved, or IN ORDER to keep himself from the PERIL OF BEING LOST, ACTS from a SELFISH MOTIVE and is serving himself rather than GOD. 

Lev. 16:29-30

'...and DO NOT WORK AT ALL, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger that sojourneth among you; For on that day (ATONEMENT) shall the priest make an ATONEMENT for you, to CLEANSE YOU, that ye may be CLEAN FROM ALL YOUR SINS before the Lord. It shall be a SABBATH OF REST...

The Sabbath is a picture of our Salvation. When we are saved we are to REST ALTOGETHER in the Lord. We are NOT TO DO ANY WORK AT ALL.

Lev. 16:29-31

"DO NO WORK AT ALL IT [shall be] A SABBATH OF REST."

God WARNS US in Numbers 15 what will happen if we DO NOT REST in the Lord and TRY TO WORK FOR OUR SALVATION.

Numbers 16:32-35

'And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they FOUND A MAN THAT GATHERED STICKS ON A SABBATH DAY.. And the Lord said unto Moses, the MAN SHALL BE SURELY PUT TO DEATH.'

Therefore, the DANGER of a FREE WILL DOCTRINE whereby a person hast to CONTINUALLY WORK for his Salvation is that he will 'BE SURELY PUT TO DEATH.'

One of the shortest, yet most potent verses in the Bible is:

'REMEMBER LOT'S WIFE.'

Well, lets consider some of the verses before and after.

Luke 17:31-33

'In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back. REMEMBER LOT'S WIFE. Whosoever SHALL SEEK TO SAVE HIS LIFE; SHALL LOSE IT; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.

YES - If we try to WORK out our salvation, we will lose it.

GOD GIVES US SALVATION
HE WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU.

Once a person is BORN FROM ABOVE they will have:

EVERLASTING LIFE - PERSEVERANCE OF THE SAINTS

PERSEVERANCE OF THE SAINTS
