HEALING OF THE PARALYZED MAN

The healing of the paralyzed man in Mark 2:1-12 was done to bring to light five (5) important pieces of information.

1. Forgiveness of sins or our spiritural needs are more important than anything else, even our physical life.

2. We need the Lord to carry us to salvation, eternal life.

3. Sins are forgiven through our faith.

4. Jesus was indeed God in human form.

5. Physical needs are also important but much less than spiritural.

Jesus saw that the man was physically paralyzed but FIRST forgave his sins. His sins were forgiven through his faith.

Romans 3:22

"The righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ."

The paralyzed man was helpless, unable to walk. We are all helpless sinners. There is no way to get salvation. We need the Lord to carry us.

John 10:9

"I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved."

Acts 4:12;

"Salvation is found in no one else."

Jesus healed the man physically to stop any distrust of his power to forgive sins. For the scribes knew that only God had the power to forgive sins (heal). Jesus showed his compassion for this man by caring for his physical sickness.

The healing of the paralyzed man showed us our need for the Lord, that forgiveness of sins or repentance is of utmost importance and comes through our faith in Jesus. This miracle vindicated the character of Jesus, that he was God in human form.
