CHRIST IS CALLED ISRAEL

Hosea 11: we read:

"When ISRAEL [was] a child, then I loved him, and called MY SON out of Egypt."

In this verse we learn that someone called ISRAEL was a child that was loved by God. He was the 'SON OF GOD' and he was called out of Egypt. Who is this individual? The Bible gives us the answer in

Matthew 2:14-15:

"When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt: and was there until the death of Herod: THAT IT MIGHT BE FULFILLED WHICH WAS SPOKEN OF THE LORD BY THE PROPHET, say Out of Egypt have I called MY SON."

God is quoting from Hosea 11:1. It states that Jesus, before He would go to Nazereth to grow up, was called out of Egypt. But Hosea says that this SON is ISRAEL. Thus, CHRIST is called ISRAEL.

As the Christ Child, ISRAEL, came out of Egypt, He is paralleling when the national Israel came out of Egypt. Christ was CALLED THE SON OF GOD in Old Testament Hosea thru the use of a PARABLE (an earthly story with a heavenly meaning). God used ISRAEL to typify CHRIST.

Daniel 3:25

"and the form of the forth is like the 'SON OF GOD'."

Isaiah 7:14

"Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a SON and shall call his name IMMANUEL."

defines IMMANUEL as.

Matthew 1:23
