ATONEMENT

JESUS PAID FOR THE SINS OF: 'ONLY THE ELECT'
- FIRST: Matthew 1:21 states; "And she shall bring
forth a son, and thou shall call his name Jesus: for he
shall save HIS PEOPLE from their sins."
Now who are 'HIS PEOPLE' ???
- >John 6:37 reads; "All that the Father giveth me
shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no
wise cast out."
'HIS PEOPLE' are the ONES who were GIVEN TO CHRIST by the
Father.
- SECOND: In John 17 Christ is praying to His Father in
verses 9 and 10; "I pray for THEM, I pray NOT FOR
THE WORLD, but for THEM WHICH THOU HAST GIVEN ME, for
they are Thine, and All Mine are Thine, and Thine are
Mine, and I am glorified in them."
If Christ laid down His life for every last individual in the
whole world, we would certainly expect that he would be praying
for all of them, BUT it states in the above verse that he is NOT
PRAYING FOR THE WORLD.
- THIRD: In Romans 5:18 we read; "By the righteousness
of one, the free gift came upon ALL men unto
justification of life."
- And in Romans 5:25 we read; "Who was delivered for
our offenses and was raised for our JUSTIFICATION."
God is very clearly teaching that those whom He saved, He
JUSTIFIED.
- Romans 5:9 states; "Much more than, being now
JUSTIFIED BY HIS BLOOD, we shall be saved from wrath
through Him."
Thus, if Christ had paid for the sins of every single person
we must conclude that all mankind stands JUSTIFIED before God.
- BUT--> Acts 24:15 says; "That there shall be a
resurrection of the dead, both of the JUST and UNJUST.
NOT ALL ARE JUSTIFIED !!!
The BIBLE defines the death of Christ in at least four
different ways:
- HE SACRIFICED - II Cor.5:21; "Fore He hath made him
TO BE SIN FOR US, who knew no sin, that we might be made
the righteousness of God in Him."
- HE PROPITIATED - Romans 3:25; "Whom God hath set
forth to be a PROPITIATION through faith in his
blood."
- HE RECONCILED - Romans 5:10; "For if , WHEN WE WERE
ENEMIES, we were RECONCILED to God by the death of His
Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by
his life."
- HE REDEEMED - Gal.3:13; "Christ hath REDEEMED us
from the curse of the law."
The questions that need precise answers are these:
- Did Christ actually make a sacrifice for sins or didn't
he?
- Did Christ actually redeem us from the curse?
- Are we ALL reconciled?
WELL, WHAT DID CHRIST
ACTUALLY ACCOMPLISH ON THE CROSS ?
If the ATONEMENT does not actually save, does not really
remove God's curse from people, does not actually redeem them,
THEN--> it indeed can be for ALL THE WORLD, even for those who
are in hell. BUT--> if the DEATH OF JESUS is what the Bible
says it is
- A SUBSTITUTING SACRIFICE FOR SINS THAT
REDEEMED US -
then it CANNOT BE FOR EVERY MAN IN THE WORLD. For then
everybody would be saved.
Did Christ do a GREAT DEAL for me, but not quite enough, unless I
do something, unless I accept Him? NO! HE DID IT ALL. All that
the FATHER GIVES....WILL COME.
Is there a difference between
- WHAT CHRIST DID
- WHATCHRIST ACCOMPLISHED ???
NO!
The Old Testament SCAPE-GOAT did not make the sacrifice or the
atonement. It was a type of our SINS GOING AWAY. The SCAPE-GOAT
RECEIVED THE SIN of the people on its head and TOOK that SIN INTO
THE DEPTH OF THE WILDERNESS. SO, our Lord JESUS CHRIST through
His ATONEMENT TOOK AWAY THE SINS OF HIS ELECT.
If Christ had taken the sins away of all people, then all
people would be JUSTIFIED and SAVED. But all people are not
saved. Therefore, Christ only paid the price for the sins of HIS
PEOPLE - THE ELECT.
